porch

What is a porch?

A porch is a place that close family or friends sit to gather, talk, and be together. When on the porch, you are exceptionally present and grounded. You may reminisce on things past, discuss your adventures of the present, or philosophize on what is to come. Put simply, a porch is a representation of human existence at its simplest and truest — the community of people most important to you and the conversations that bring you closer.

Guiding principles

The most important things in life are the simplest — people, conversation, and community. The things which bring you closer aren’t extraordinary or novel — the things which bring you closer are ordinary conversation, moments that seem mundane, and shared experiences. Life might make it hard to maintain community with the people you care most about. Porch is about reserving time for that engagement, and creating a space to nurture it.

The gift of porch

Most social media is a record of your life. Porch becomes a record of your relationships — where the history you produce is an artifact of your time spent on the porch with the people closest to you. Your laughs, memories, jokes, conversations, and the small things happening in each other’s lives. These relationships become something tangible that you can keep with you.
